About Christian Counseling
At Still Waters Counseling and Education Center, we believe every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent worth, dignity, and value. We also believe that because we live in a fallen world, all people experience suffering, brokenness, relational difficulties, and struggles that affect emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual well-being.
Christian counseling recognizes that people are both physical and spiritual beings. While emotional and mental health concerns often involve biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors, we believe lasting healing and growth are best understood within the context of God's truth.
As Christians, we believe the Bible is God's inspired Word and the ultimate authority for faith and life. Scripture
reveals who God is, who we are, why suffering exists, and where true hope is found. It speaks to issues such as anxiety, fear, grief, forgiveness, relationships, identity, purpose, suffering, and restoration.
At the same time, we believe God has given wisdom and knowledge through the tools of science that allow us to better understand human behavior and emotional health. For this reason, our counselors utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches while evaluating all counseling interventions through the lens of a biblical worldview.
We do not view Christian faith and sound clinical practice as opposing forces. Rather, we believe that all truth is God's truth and that counseling is most effective when it addresses the whole person—mind, body, emotions, relationships, and spirit.
For many Christians, faith is not simply one aspect of life—it is the foundation upon which life is built. It shapes how they understand themselves, their relationships, their purpose, their suffering, and their hope. Christian counseling provides an opportunity to address life's challenges within the framework of biblical truth while receiving professional mental health care.
Faith integration may include exploring biblical principles relevant to a client's concerns, discussing spiritual questions, identifying spiritual resources that support growth and healing, and incorporating prayer when requested by the client. The extent of spiritual integration is guided by the client's goals, needs, and preferences.
Our goal is not simply symptom reduction, but helping people move toward greater health, healing, wisdom, and wholeness as they pursue the life God has called them to live.
While our counseling is informed by a distinctly Christian worldview, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds and belief systems. We are committed to treating every person with compassion, respect, and dignity while providing ethical, professional, and evidence-based care.
