Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
We know insurance can feel overwhelming—like trying to read a map in a foreign language. But take a deep breath. You're not alone in this. Many of our therapists are in-network with most major insurance plans, and we’re more than happy to check your benefits and help you figure it out. We'll walk with you every step of the way.
“I’m not sure about this whole therapy thing. Aren’t people who do therapy weak or ‘crazy’?”
Let’s gently toss that lie right out the window. Choosing therapy isn’t weakness—it’s wisdom. It takes bravery to face what hurts. Our clients are souls who are done pretending everything’s fine when it’s not. Life is hard, but healing is possible.
“Will we do therapy on-line or in person?”
We offer therapy on-line or in person, you get to choose. Some clients love the comfort of therapy from their favorite cozy chair at home, while others prefer the sacred quiet of our counseling rooms. We offer both online and in-person sessions—whatever helps you feel most seen, safe, and supported.

“What’s the difference between talking to a therapist versus talking to my best friend or family?”
There’s something sacred about a friendship. But sometimes, what you need isn’t just a listening ear—it’s skilled care. A therapist offers a space with no strings attached. No fear of judgment. No pressure to hold it together. Just grace, clinical wisdom, and a heart that wants to help you grow.

Your therapist brings years of training, experience, and ongoing education, all backed by research and rooted in compassion. Friends are wonderful. Therapists are professionally equipped for the deeper work. And the two can beautifully complement each other on your healing journey.

“How does therapy work? What will we do in sessions?”
We start wherever you are—no pressure to have it all figured out. You bring your story. We bring a safe space and a few good questions. Together, we’ll explore what matters to you, what’s been hard, and what hope might look like.
We’ll work toward your goals at a pace that feels doable. Sometimes that looks like deep conversations. Sometimes it means practical strategies. And always, it’s about progress, not perfection.

“What if I just take medication, or what if I don’t want to take medication?”
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here, and we honor your choice. Some people benefit from both therapy and medication. Others prefer therapy alone. We don’t prescribe meds, but we can help you connect with a provider who does, if that’s the direction you want to explore.

What we can promise is this: therapy isn’t just about symptoms. It’s about soul-deep healing. And no matter what tools you use along the way, that’s always worth pursuing.
“How long will I be in therapy?”
Every story is different. Some chapters wrap up quickly. Others take a little more time. But no matter how long you’re with us, we’ll walk with you faithfully, with no rush and no pressure. Just steady, grace-filled steps toward wholeness.
“I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?”
Great question. Your willingness to show up, open up, and stay present—even on the hard days—is how the real transformation begins. This is your journey, and we’re honored to be part of it.

At Still Waters, we believe in progress, not perfection. We believe in honesty, practice, and a God who meets us in our mess. So come as you are. We’ll take it one step at a time—together.

"God has sent no one to this earth purposeless."
