
Nic Jones, Intern
Nic Jones is a Clinical Social Work Intern currently pursuing his Master of Social Work at University of North Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he also completed a minor in Church Ministry Practicum.
Nic brings experience in counseling support, client care, crisis-response coordination, and trauma-informed practices through his work in both clinical and ministry settings. In addition to his internship at Still Waters Counseling &
Education Center, he currently serves at the UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center, where he supports client intake, crisis triage, and program coordination for individuals navigating emotional and mental health challenges.
Clients often appreciate Nic’s warm, approachable personality and his heart for helping people feel safe, valued, and encouraged. His counseling style emphasizes compassion, curiosity, and meeting people where they are without judgment.
Nic has particular interests in trauma recovery, anxiety, nervous system regulation, spiritual abuse recovery, relationship support, and emotional wellness. He has completed Prepare/Enrich facilitator training and continues advanced training in trauma-informed care and evidence-based interventions.
Nic provides counseling services under the supervision of Kaylee Newton, LICSW-S, while continuing his clinical training and professional development.
