Nikki Sims is a compassionate counseling intern who is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families find healing, clarity, and hope. She brings over a decade of experience in mental health and substance use care, working with clients across a wide range of settings including crisis intervention, inpatient treatment, and community-based counseling.
Nikki is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. As part of her clinical training, she is completing her internship under the supervision of Marcy McClain, LPC-S, ensuring that clients receive high-quality, ethically grounded care.
Throughout her career, Nikki has developed a strong ability to connect with clients in meaningful ways, especially during times of stress, crisis, or transition. She has extensive experience in conducting assessments, supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, and using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Nikki has a special heart for walking alongside those navigating emotional pain, relational challenges, and life transitions. She approaches each client with empathy, respect, and a deep belief in their capacity for growth and resilience.
For clients who desire it, Nikki also thoughtfully integrates faith into the counseling process. She has been actively involved in faith-based marriage and family wellness initiatives, partnering with local churches to support emotional healing, healthy relationships, and spiritual growth.
Nikki strives to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to move forward with confidence and purpose.
