Christmas: Silence is Broken

For four hundred years, heaven seemed quiet. No new prophets spoke, no new Scriptures were written. Generations of people longed to hear from God again, holding to promises that must have felt distant and fragile. And then, in one breathtaking moment, the silence was broken—not by thunder or proclamation, but by the cry of a newborn.
The birth of Jesus changed everything. The long silence gave way to song, to angelic praise, to hope that finally had a name. In that moment, the waiting world learned anew what it means to be seen, known, and loved by God.
“ With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” — Isaiah 12:3
Those prophetic words from Isaiah remind us that the well of salvation is not a place—it’s a Person. Jesus Himself is the source we draw from when our souls run dry. In Him, we find a joy that isn’t tied to circumstance, a peace that outmatches fear, and a hope that flourishes through faith.
At Still Waters Counseling & Education Center, we often talk about how healing begins in quiet places—how, even in silence, God is still working. The birth of Jesus reminds us that silence doesn’t mean absence. Sometimes, it’s simply the pause before redemption begins.
In therapy, we see that truth unfolds as clients find their voice again after loss, disappointment, or struggle. Healing often starts not with noise, but with stillness—with learning to listen for what God is doing beneath the surface. His well of grace never runs dry.
The story of Christmas reminds us that God meets us where we are—humble, weary, uncertain—and offers living water for our thirsty souls.
This December, as lights twinkle and carols rise, may your heart remember that the same God who broke the silence still speaks today—through Scripture, through prayer, and through the quiet work of faith.
He is still Emmanuel—God with us. And His well of unfathomable love cannot be exhausted.
Come draw joy with us. The waters are still.
